Laurice Lanier – Trowell
I began my journey as Director of Music Ministries on May 1, 2017. I am married to Demetrius Trowell. My husband and I have a young daughter. Our daughter is smart, beautiful and full of life. Our family is happy to have one chihuahua, named Roo.
I am a professional vocalist, music director, vocal coach, worship leader, and pianist. I am a graduate of The Juilliard School; New York, NY, where I majored in Vocal Performance and Foreign Language. It was an honor as well as a privilege to be named by Maryland Public Television as “One of the Most Versatile Voices on the Planet”. My hometown is Jackson, TN. My strong vocal training comes from the incomparable, Edith Bers. I studied piano since the age of 6. My piano training comes from the Late Alicia Dunn of Chicago, IL and Soo-Young Kim, New York, NY. It was a pleasure to study Musical Theater, Dance, Piano and Voice at Governor’s School of the Arts; Murfreesboro, TN, Hartwick College Summer Music Festival & Institute; Oneonta, NY and Interlochen Performing Arts; Interlochen Michigan. I have over 20 years of teaching music privately, directing choirs, conducting master classes and performing in churches and performance halls in the United States and abroad.
It is a blessing to serve as the Director of Music Ministries for Atlanta First United Methodist Church. It is my desire for the music to add beauty to the services and set the hearts of the people right. I am excited to grow the music department where we will consistently lead the believer into the worship of God and set the heart of the unbeliever to receive Jesus Christ.
My favorite bible verse is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”. May the Lord bless you and keep you!
